With less than 72 hours to go before the most anticipated fight in boxing history, rumors are swirling that undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather may be a no show on fight night.

"I really am wondering if he's going to turn up on the night," said Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach on Wednesday.

There's been a lot of chatter this week that Mayweather is unusually subdued and silent when the brash and loud mouth boxer normally would be running his mouth. "I just don't know why Floyd has gone quiet for his fight," Roach continued. "His speech is very subdued."

Critics of Mayweather speculate that the champion is afraid of his opponent Manny Pacquiao or at the very least fearful that his 47-0 record could be tarnished with his first career loss on Saturday night.

"I don't think any fighter is afraid, but I don't think he wanted this fight." Roach added. "He was forced into a fight he didn't want to take."

Adding fuel to the fire of fear surrounding Mayweather is the latest in a series of complaints that the Mayweather camp has made recently surrounding insignificant things. Roach told the media that Mayweather has complained about Manny Pacquiao's gloves as well as the protective cup he's going to wear in the ring.

Roach said that the Nevada Boxing Commission has inspected both items and approved each, leading Roach to believe that Mayweather's mind is in a fragile state with just a couple days to go before the biggest fight of his career.

When asked for an explanation on why he's been more silent leading up to this fight than others in the past, Mayweather calmly stated:

"I talked trash in the past, but this fight sells itself, so I don't have to."

When made aware of Roach's claims that he didn't think Mayweather would show up to the ring on Saturday, the confident 38-year-old puncher smiled and said:

"I'll be there."
