Wisin Y Yandel Break Up Rumors

Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día has reported that Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin Y Yandel will be splitting after reggaeton artist Don Omar made a surprise announcement at a concert.

Omar wished Yandel (whose real name is Llandel Veguilla Malave) success as a solo artist during their performance at a concert in Puerto Rico. Omar's words have been interpreted as a hint towards the future of the duo.

"The great thing about us, Puerto Ricans is that we know when we make a mistake, and we can acknowledge it and apologize for the sake of the genre and our island's. Welcome to your new phase as a solo artist, brother," said Don Omar last night during his show "Made in Puerto Rico".

Edgar Andino, the group's manager, has rebuffed the claims to El Nuevo Día. Andino told the newspaper: "To my knowledge, Don Omar is neither Yandel's publicist, nor his manager."

The group's publicist, Jennifer Nieman, has told the media that the duo is still a solid pair and there are no plans of breaking up.

"I know of Don Omar and do not know why he said that," said Nieman to Primera Hora. "What he said was nothing planned."

That said, Yandel is pursuing solo work without his partner, Juan Luis Morera Luna, and is working on a solo album.

So what is fact and what is fiction? It seems, as of now, that Omar's statement may have only been referring to Yandel's upcoming solo album and not a reflection of the duo's status as a group. As of now, the group, who began their career in1998, is intact.
