Celebrities and fans alike took to Twitter on Monday evening to cheer on Team USA in their 2014 World Cup opening match against Ghana. In one of the most exciting and thrilling games Americans have ever seen, the "Stars and Stripes" beat the "Black Stars" 2-1 on a header by John Brooks in the closing minutes. The game was full of ups and downs as Team USA took fans on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Fans were excited for the match to begin as a record 20,000 + fans purchased tickets. They were not let down as USA's, Clint Dempsey scored within the first 30 seconds of the game. The fastest goal ever scored by Team USA in history. Emotions then turned as the Americans saw their star striker, Jozy Altidore go down with a serious hamstring injury. Injuries and substiutions continued throughout the match as the U.S. squad went on the defense to try and hold on to their lead. Ghana scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute with a goal by Andrew Ayew. Then the dramatic moment came: on a set piece in the 86th minute, super sub, John Brooks headed the Graham Zusi corner kick into the net and the U.S. won the match.
