As they continue to make their final preparations before the highly-anticipated World Cup opens in June, the United States men’s national team hopes their intense training regiments and challenging international friendly schedule has a positive impact once the enter the Brazil games. While head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and his staff remain focused on preparing the final roster ahead of the summer tournament, Nike recently focused its attention on making sure the USMNT looks like a premier squad during every one of their matches. After unveiling the design for the squad’s home uniforms last month, the sports superpower revealed the away kits for Team USA, uniform’s that capture the pageantry of what it means to represent the United States of America.

“The USA has a profound and passionate pride in their nation,” said Global Creative Director for Nike Soccer Martin Lotti. “We wanted to create a design that reflects this in a daring and colorful fashion to give them an even more imposing appearance on the pitch. Inspiration can come from so many different areas and the only rule I have is that if we design a jersey, we’re not allowed to look at another jersey. If we’re designing shoes, we don’t look at another shoe. Our goal is to challenge the status quo and push things further, and I don’t think that can be done if we just look at the past.”

With sharp red, white and blue colors along with uniquely designed lettering and numerals, the 2014 United States away soccer uniforms for both the men’s and women’s teams will undoubtedly help each player wearing the kit represent their country with even more pride. “I like the patriotic design and color scheme and I think it will look great on the pitch,” said U.S. Men’s National Team Captain Clint Dempsey. “Hopefully they will serve us well as we head into a competitive group.”

The United States men’s team will open their 2014 World Cup duties on June 16 with a match-up against Group G participant Ghana. Games against Portugal (June 22) and Germany (June 26) will serve as tough battles but with consistent play, the USMNT team could find themselves playing deep into the summer event.
