When planning your next summer vacation or family trip, consider visiting certain cities in Latin America, the U.S., Europe, and other parts around the world as the "Most Dangerous Cities in the World" list has been revealed. Some of the most popular metropolises in the world have become some of the most dangerous places on the earth, according to World Atlas.

Four cities in the United States made the 2016 list: St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, and New Orleans. Latin American cities, on the other hand, took the shocking list by storm. In fact, nine out of the top 10 are Latin American cities, with Caracas in Venezuela topping the list.

The South American city nabbed the number one spot from Hondura's San Pedro Sula, which was the most dangerous city in the world in 2015.

Although the murder rate in St. Louis is of 59.23 per 100,000, the U.S. city is considered a much safer place to live in next to Caracas. San Pedro Sula (Honduras), San Salvador (El Salvador), Acapulco (Mexico), Maturin, Districto Central (Honduras), Valencia (Venezuela), Palmira (Colombia), Cali (Colombia) are all of the crime-filled towns in the top 10. Extensive poverty, illegal drug distribution, and gangs, all affect the living conditions in these cities. Check out the Top 50 list below, the numbers reflect the murder rate per 100,000.
