'Yago' Telenovela Returns
Iván Sánchez stars in "Yago." Televisa

After it was reported that Univision was canceling "Yago" and shipping it over to sister network UniMás, there was a change of heart. On Friday, the Spanish-language channel confirmed that the Iván Sánchez telenovela was not going anywhere, but was only going to take a break. "Like a total gentleman, Yago hands over his space to 'Tres Veces Ana,'" the tweet read. "[He] will return on May 30 at 10pm/9c."

"Yago" took over "Pasión y Poder" on May 2 with soft ratings. Univision must not have been happy with the direction of the Carmen Armendariz production and this week programming schedules had been spurring up on social media that reflected a change. "Yago" was to be shipped to UniMás starting May 23 at midnight, while "Tres Veces Ana" aired 2-hour episodes for a whole week. On May 30th, the programming grid showed that a new telenovela, "A Que No Me Dejas," would take over the 10pm/9c slot.

Univision never aired any promos announcing the changes. On Thursday night, which was to be "Yago's" last episode on the network, no preview of the next chapter was aired. The latter was odd as every night the network teases clips from the following episode. There was also no mention on the faith of "Yago." It wasn't until Friday that Univision acknowledged that "Yago" was shifting to a later hour, but taking a week off.

When news first broke of the programming changes, fans of the series started tweeting the producer. Ms. Armendariz was taken by surprise and was not aware of what was going on. "Maybe 'Yago' will be better off on UniMás," she wrote. "A story so different that needs another home. I promise that you will be glued to your tv."

She also teased her followers on what was to come next in the series: "Everything that is coming to 'Yago' are jealousy, crimes, sex, more betrayals and confessions. It's a strong story, don't stop watching. I promise you that what we will tell you [on the telenovela] will be of your complete approval. It will get hot."

"Yago" returns to UNIVISION on Monday, May 30 in its new time slot at 10pm/9c.
