Yolanda Saldivar Rumored To Be Dead
News of the death of Selena Quintanilla's killer went viral. Find out what really happened here! Reuters

With the celebration of Selena Quintanilla's legacy, there's also a dark side. Our "Amor Prohibido" hitmaker would probably still be here with us, but as you know, her life was truncated by a woman called Yolanda Saldivar. The name resonates in our minds and all the most horrible words spur up as we still have not forgiven the atrocity she did to Selena. Last year news of Saldivar's death went viral, but it turned out to be a hoax. A fake news sitewith nothing to report wrote the following: "After spending nearly 20 years in prison for the murder of beloved Tejano superstar, Selena Quintanilla Perez, Yolanda Saldivar was found dead in her cell by deputies during a routine walk through of the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas. Attempts to resuscitate Saldivar proved futile as she appeared to have been dead for several hours before discovery."

At the time, many fans of the late "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" singer took to Twitter to celebrate Yolanda's demise. The San Antonio Current has reported and confirmed that Saldivar is very much alive and everything was a false alarm. The publication of the article was probably due to the fact that earlier that same year, the rumor that Yolanda was being released from prison, caused a stir. The National Report, a fake news site that labels itself as “America’s #1 Independent News Source,” reported the news first, saying Saldívar, who is serving a life sentence in Gatesville, Texas for the 1995 murder of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, was granted an early release for 2015 due to ailing health. It was reported that Saldívar was in the beginning stages of kidney failure, a serious condition that would’ve warranted the parole board to grant her immediate release. All this information was completely fake with Saldivar not eligible for parole until March 2025.

Today, March 31, 2016, people took to social media to remember the culprit of Selena's death. In contrast to our Tejano star, nothing but the worst wishes were made upon her. Check out some of those messages from Twitter down below and tell us what you think.
