The AOL show “My Hero” is produced by Zoe Zaldana, brings you closer to your favorite stars, takes you to their hometowns, and just like the name says it, celebrities get a chance to honor and thank their heroes. Julianne Hough, Maria Menounos, Nick Cannon and Tyler Posey will also be part of the show. Its first episode aired on Friday, October 24, and this time it was Saldana’s turn to take viewers to her childhood home, share her best memories and most of all, honor her sweet mom, who Saldana calls her one true hero. “Everyone has that one special person in their lives they call heroes.”

“My Hero” started off in the “Book of Life” star’s home country, Dominican Republic, where she talks about the “awesome” memories she’s had with her loved ones, talks about times when the family came together due to lack of power in the neighborhood, and gets very emotional when talking about her late father, who was her other true hero. Saldana’s father sadly passed away in a car accident in 1988.

In an interview with Variety, Zoe said her sister did this and brought the project to another of her sisters and her, and they both loved it. After taking the project to every network, they thought doing it on the Internet would be a great idea and AOL did it just the way they had envisioned. At the end of the first episode you get to see Saldana and her sisters giving their mom a very special gift in an extremely emotional moment for all of them. Check it out!
