The E90, E92, E93 BMW M3 was a rare animal that possessed a shrieking naturally aspirated V8 that revved all the way to 8,300 rpm. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but we earnestly believe that the outgoing V8 BMW M3 not only sounds magnificent, but is the best sounding M3 of all time. But is it better sounding than the 2014 M3?

The next-generation 'F80' 2014 BMW M3 sedan and 'F82' BMW M4 coupe is expected to officially launch after the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. Instead of the V8 engine, the new M-car will have a more compact 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six engine developing around 424 hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine will be mated to either a standard six-speed manual transmission or a trick 7-speed M DCT dual clutch transmission featuring launch control.

The engine note of the new 2014 BMW M3 sedan and M4 Coupe have been heard in previous spy videos and we have collected a handful to give you a better idea of what the new BMW M3 and M4 Coupe will sound like. The first video is captured from inside a garage park and offers perhaps the most acoustically accurate representation of the sound.
