A 2014 Camaro lost control on Queens Boulevard near Broadway at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday morning. According to reports, the brand new Camaro was driven by a 22-year-old. Authorities report two pedestrians were struck and killed in the incident.

The driver, who has not been identified, lost control of his bright yellow sports car at a high rate of speed, striking a phonebooth, a lamp post, and two parked vehicles. Ultimately, the Camaro did not stop and jumped the curb, causing it to careen towards two pedestrians walking on the sidewalk. Victims 59-year-old Manchip Cheng died at the scene while emergency responders rushed 41-year-old Mu Wang Lin to Elmhurst Hospital. Unfortunately, Lin was pronounced dead in the hospital. 

The driver responsible for the 2014 Camaro crash only sustained minor injuries. He was taken into custody after authorities found he had two outstanding warrants for unspecified infractions.

The redesigned 2014 Camaro was just introduced earlier this year at the New York Auto Show. The new-for-2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 boasts a naturally aspirated 7.0 liter LS7 engine producing 505 hp and 481 lb.-ft. of torque.
