Mercedes has published a short teaser video that previews the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The new 2015 C-Class, internally designated as the W205, is expected to debut at the next Detroit Auto Show in January.

Details on the 2015 C-Class are not official but the German automaker has recently released a teaser video as well as a number of pictures of the interior of the C-Class. As the video suggests, the next C-class will be significantly less stylistically conservative than the outgoing vehicle. In fact, the 2015 C-Class will greatly borrow from the swoopy Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door coupe and the latest CLA.

The exterior looks more sleek and organic and the bones retain the same bank vault German precision that you expect, yet the 2015 C-Class structure is a significant 88 pounds lighter than the outgoing model. According to Car & Driver, Mercedes-Benz used 48 percent aluminum in the C-Class as opposed to just 9 percent in the previous car. Body panels including the front fenders, hood, doors, roof panel, and trunklid are aluminum, too, leading to an overall vehicle weight reduction of 220 pounds versus the 2014 model.

Mercedes-Benz looks to push technology in all parameters for the 2015 C-Class as the new model will also feature an efficient turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant making 210-hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. A 2.1 liter turbodiesel four-cylinder making 195-hp and 369 lb.-ft. of torque promises to offer 45 mpg on the highway. Details on the upcoming C-Class AMG are limited.

The three standard 2015 C-Class variants will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission at launch but expect to see nine-speed gearboxes shortly. Both RWD and AWD is available for all trim variants as well.
