Ariana Grande is set to headline the Coachella festival next weekend, and rumor has it that she is collaborating with world-renowned K-pop group BLACKPINK. Rumors started to swirl over the weekend after the singer posted a series of birthday greetings for “Sweetener” collaborator Pharrell Williams, who has links with BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa.

Coachella is one of the most awaited annual music festivals in the world, featuring performances and collaborations by international artists. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Ariana is the fourth female artist to perform at the festival.

As anticipation runs high for what Ariana has in store for her fans at the Coachella, the thrill reached an all-time high last weekend when the singer hinted at her possible collaboration with BLACKPINK. After teasing her upcoming performance with Childish Gambino for their 2014 hit “Break Your Heart Right Back,” Ariana teased another big surprise when she posted a series of Coachella-ish birthday greetings for American singer and producer Pharrell.

On March 28, Pharrell made fans giddy when he posted snaps of him with BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa. All the three of them were at the Chanel-Pharrell Celebration Party in Seoul, where Pharrell and Jennie were set to perform together to celebrate the brand’s first store in the South Korean capital.

Because of Pharrell’s links with BLACKPINK, fans were quick to speculate that Ariana was teasing a possible joint performance with the female K-pop group. Although it was pretty normal for Ariana to post birthday greetings for longtime friend Pharrell, many pointed out that the Coachella reminder thrown in the middle of her greetings might have meant something bigger.

The possibility of an Ariana-BLACKPINK collab at the Coachella is high, considering that Pharrell is the only link between Ariana and BLACKPINK and BLACKPINK was also confirmed to perform at the event. “Jennie n Lisa meeting Pharrell, Pharrell produced a Grammy award winning album with Ariana … Ariana and BLACKPINK gonna be at Coachella … blinkinators are u picking up what I’m putting down,” one fan tweeted.

If the collaboration sees the light of the day, it must be one of the biggest performances to ever hit the Coachella stage. Both Ariana and BLACKPINK are two of the most defining artists of their generation. Ariana is currently the most followed person on social media, while BLACKPINK continues to conquer the global scene with their hit songs. Just recently, the group returned with their long-awaited track “Kill This Love” surpassing 10 million views on YouTube just four hours after its release and beating out Ariana’s “Thank U, Next” record.
