"American Horror Story: Coven" returns tonight and Madison is back, well sort of. After a rough Season 3 for the young witch, it doesn't seem like things are going to get better any time soon. Last we saw of Madison Montgomery she was stuck in the grips of the terrifyingly creepy Spalding and hidden amongst his porcelain dolls. In episode 4, "Fearful Pranks Ensue" ended with a tea party where both Spalding and Madison were in attendance, however, only one of them was in proper attire. We are not really exactly sure what Spalding's plan is but one thing we do know for sure is that time is running out, in last week's episode "Burn, Witch. Burn!" Spalding had to spray his attic room with an air fresher to get rid of Madison's new decaying body aroma, and then when he was trying to move her body, he accidentally ripped her arm off.
So with her imminent return in episode 6, "The Axeman Cometh" is Madison alive or dead? Well, to be honest we are not too sure, but judging by the promotional pictures Madison is most likely still dead. The young witch has a scarf around her neck and an oversized zip-up sweater on, which would certainly cover up a missing limb, also Madison isn't wearing any makeup, which is very unlike her. Despite our gut feeling that Madison is still dead, we are pretty sure she won't stay decaying for too long. In tonight's episode, the "Coven" at Miss Robichaux's will be using a spirit board in an effort to find Madison.
So will the young witches find her? Most likely yes, Show co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Spalding will "obviously" be brought to justice "for his dark deeds," and that in the next episode "we deal with the Madison of it all." Not only will the Coven probably find Madison in Spalding's room, they will attempt to bring her back to life. Zoe encounters Misty Day again in tonight's episode, so we are assuming that her powers of resurrection will be put to good use!
