Fasten your seatbelts Jets fans, prepare to long for turbulence; this bumpy ride is about to get even worse. This year's season has found the New York team confounding just about everyone by playing musical chairs virtually at random with its quarterback roster, and now it looks like third-string QB, Tim Tebow, is officially searching for an exit.

Things have only gotten progressively worse for the Jets as the season has worn on. Starting QB Mark Sanchez's dismal performance on Monday, losing 14-0 against the Tennessee Titans with five turnovers was bad enough to earn him death threats from fans, the Christian Post reported.

The loss eliminated any hopes the Jets had of making the playoffs.

Since then, coach Rex Ryan made the inexplicable decision to bench Sanchez, jump over second-string QB Tebow, and start third-stringer Greg McElroy for Sunday's game against the San Deigo Chargers. What's more, Ryan refused to elaborate as to why he had made such a decision or even name a No. 2 QB for the game.

Tebow himself may have taken the decision as badly as the rest of Jets fans. The New York Daily News spoke to a source that claims he is now considering placing a request to be transferred or leave the team at the end of the season.

"Only in Jets Nation could McElroy, the No. 3 quarterback, who has five completions and 29 yards on his resume, jump over Sanchez, whom the Jets hoped would be their franchise quarterback, and Tim Tebow, who took the Broncos to the playoffs last season and was acquired in a trade just as ridiculous as Sanchez's contract extension," noted the New York Daily News.

"Tim has been cleared to play for a number of weeks," Ryan told the NY Daily News. "As the weeks went on, he looked better and better. We even ran some Pistol and Wildcat. But this decision is my decision. I'm choosing to go with Greg," said Ryan, likely very aware of his remaining two-year, $6 million contract with the team.

If McElroy performs even incrementally better than Sanchez, it's likely the Jets have found their starting QB for next season, meaning the team will start next year with one of the highest paid second-string QBs in the NFL.

"What a train wreck," an anonymous inside source said the Daily News. "What happened on national television coupled with Rex starting (Greg) McElroy now, there is no happy ending. What is a good exit plan on that? This is a mess."

"I think he's terrible," the source continued. "At the Senior Bowl, if you took your eyes off the field when he was throwing, you might get the ball in your earhole. He's just a good college player."
