In February 2012 George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman said the teen was acting suspicious so he followed Martin while he walked. Zimmerman claims Martin turned on him and believing his life was in danger George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

As previously reported by the Latin Times George Zimmerman was on the phone with police as he was following the teenager. The 9-1-1 dispatcher informed Zimmerman to stop following Martin but he did not listen. The prosecution is going to focus on that fact use it to try and convince the jury that Zimmerman did not act in self-defense when he fired the gun.

The defense is going to claim that Zimmerman was in fear for his life because the teenager turned on him and became violent, leaving the 28-year-old with no other course of action but to fire the shot and protect his own life.

Recently the defense tried to get text messages and photos of Trayvon Martin admitted into evidence. These texts and images show a different side of the 17-year-old than what has been portrayed in the media.

Often we have seen images of Trayvon Martin when he was a young child. These newly released photos show the 17-year-old smoking weed, giving the finger to the camera and another with him holding a gun. Texts Travon Martin sent from his phone describe a more violent young man speaking about smoking weed and picking fights.
