Gamaliel Lezama Paz, a nurse from the Mexican Social Security Institute was detained for 16 hours and had to post a $1,400 bail because he was charged for "insult" after he was caught taking pictures of two Azcapotzalco Public Ministry officials flattening the tires of a vehicle.

Lezama Paz was waiting in his car for his girlfriend when he realized a man and a woman surrounding a car and looking suspicious. He took out his camera and started taking pictures. Little did he know the woman was Patricia Alejandra Botello Platas, an official of the Public Ministry, who realized she was being photographed and crossed the street to confront the young man.

She started cursing and verbally attacking Lezama Paz, according to a statement the nurse gave to Mexican newspaper El Universal, and she started asking about the pictures, but he denied taking any.

Botello Platas then said she was a "very influential person" and that Gamaliel didn't know who he was messing with. She later proceeded to take the radio and ask for backup. She walked away for a second, leaving Lezama Paz with an officer identified as Licona, the man who was with Botello Platas flattening the tires.

Moments later, the Public Ministry official returned with five cops who asked Gamaliel to go with them to the Public Ministry. He resisted, but was forced to go.

Lezema Paz claims he was treated with disrespect, intimidation and curses. He added that his family was offended too when they were refused any information regarding the young man. "I was treated like a criminal. It looked as if everyone was against me," said Gamaliel.

He was charged with "insult" by Patricia Botello Platas, because she claims he was disrespectful to on-duty officials. However, Gamaliel claims he only took some pictures, and although he denied them at first, that's not a crime either.

According to Botello Platas, she was flattening the tires with Officer Licona as part of an official task because the vehicle in question was an accessory to robbery.

Gamaliel Lezema Paz was let go almost 12 hours after his arrest, and had to post a $1,400 bail. He says a police officer confessed to him that Botello Platas was known as "La Chica Plástica" (the plastic girl) and she was a known backstabber.

Many social media have given her the nickname of "Lady Plástica" or "Lady de Azcapotzalco," joining "Lady Profeco" and "Lady Senadora."
