In the wake of the George Zimmerman verdict, more rallies honoring the memory of Trayvon Martin have occurred. Zimmerman was acquitted of a second-degree murder charge and also a manslaughter charge in the death of 17-year-old teen, Trayvon Martin. Following the not-guilty verdict many citizens in the US are still attempting to come to terms with the jury's decision.

Jay Z and Beyoncé attended a peaceful protest in New York and stood alongside Reverend Al Sharpton, who spoke at the rally. Jay Z had also dedicated the song "Forever Young" to Martin during his July 19th concert with Justin Timberlake at Yankee Stadium. The rapper, 43, and his wife, 31, kept a low profile at the rally attended by community leaders, and members of the public. They did however pose for a photograph with Sharpton and Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton at one point during the day.

Sharpton, a civil rights activist, acknowledged the attendance of the famous couple in his speech at the rally. "Jay Z and Beyoncé said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op," Sharpton said. "Beyoncé put a beautiful message up on Instagram. " Sharpton was referring a post that the singer captioned "#justicefortrayvon" and posted an all black photo a week ago.

Beyoncé also asked her audience to participate in a moment of silence honoring Trayvon Martin at her July 13th concert, the singer than sang "I Will Always Love You" and "Halo."

Sharpton also recognized Jay Z's dedication to the cause, continuing in his speech to thank the rapper. "Let me tell you, that before a lot of you were down, Jay Z always supported us. Jay Z told me, 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension -- the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody," Sharpton continued. "We do not come from hate, we come from love of children."

At his concert at Yankee Stadium with Justin Timberlake, when dedicating their final song "Forever Young" to Martin, Jay Z shouted, "This is for Trayvon, so light up your cell phones New York!"
