Mexico City municipal authorities are attempting to create a tourist attraction at the crash site of late singer, Jenni Rivera. Rivera's plane crashed in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon last December, killing the famed star and six others on board.

Work has already begun to make the crash site more accessible for the many adoring fans of "La diva de la banda." Iturbide municipal secretary Cesar Romeo Carreon revealed that more than 50 men started working on Monday in order to widen and improve the condition of the tiny 2-foot wide road that lead to the singer's crash site.

At the crash site, more specifically the exact spot where Rivera's remains were recovered stands a makeshift altar dedicated to the singer. Despite its unofficial tribute, many fans frequently visit the crash site to not only remember Rivera, but also to pay homage and respect.

"What we want is that people who would like to come here will be able do so either walking or on an all-terrain vehicle," Carreon said, adding that the project has the support of the landowner, Rosendo Rodriguez.

In addition, Carreon said that once the work is done, visitors would be able to make a "voluntary contribution" for the upkeep of the place.
