Miley Cyrus performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was controversial and had the whole nation talking about it for the whole week. Now we know that it was all in Miley's plan to cause such a stir and she knew she was making VMA history in doing so. The pop starlet sat down with MTV for an interview where she explains her performance at the award show.

"Me and Robin [Thicke], the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now,'" the "We Can't Stop" hitmaker said. "What's amazing is I think now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're over thinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me."

Ms. Cyrus falls in a contradiction here as she first says she wanted to make history with her appearance, but then she says she didn't think about it. So it's one or the other. Maybe she is referring to the fact she didn't properly plan her running around aimlessly around the stage and just doing what came natural at the moment? We know for a fact that Miley wanted to join the history making hall of fame that has performances by Britney Spears and Madonna and has deflected all negative comments against her.

“I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times,” Miley added, “How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna‘s done it. Britney‘s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history."

Do you think Miley Cyrus' performance is on par with Britney Spears and Madonna?
