"American Horror Story" Season 3 has had us shaking in our boots from its first teaser trailer, but now the FX mini-series seems like it's going to have us running from black cats for a long time. In early spoilers, we learned that "Coven" will be set in New Orleans and tell the story of a group of witches, the story will be split between modern day and the 1830s.The witches of the supposed "Coven" have escaped from persecution at the Salem Witch Trials, however now there is a new threat. You certainly didn't think the witches were the only powerful women in New Orleans, prepare for voodoo! Viewers will meet Marie Laveau, the 19th century centenarian known as the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. Laveau, a prolific practice of Voudoun, will be portrayed by Angela Bassett. So we are expecting to see some voodoo versus magic.

"American Horror Story" will premiere on Oct. 9 with episode 1, "Bitchcraft." The latest teaser trailer has given fans a serious glimpse of the witches and they certainly look powerful, and FX has even released the "Bitchcraft" synopsis. Season 3 will begin with the introduction of Zoe, played by Taissa Farmiga, a young girl who is "shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem." After Zoe discovers she has startling abilities, she is sent to Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans. However, this boarding school is anything from ordinary, in the trailer we catch a glimpse of the oddities and magic that call the academy home. The school designated especially for witches is, "devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline."

Upon Zoe's arrival in New Orleans she is not the only witch walking through the school's doors. Fiona Goode, played by Jessica Lange, is home and not just for sentimental reason. Goode is described as the long-absent Supreme who also happens to be "the most powerful witch of her generation." Goode is back to protect the witches and the academy, thus discovering the "Coven's deadly enemies, the Voodoo."

"American Horror Story" premieres on FX Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. EDT with "Bitchcraft." Episode 2, which is currently set to air on Oct. 16, is called "Boy Parts," and episode 3, airing on Oct. 23, is named "The Replacements."

And if you aren't intrigued how about a quick read of the full "Coven" synopsis released by FX. While the main story will certainly be magic vs. voodoo, it seems the witches have kept a great deal of secrets from their "Coven," which will cause drama, deceit and even a love triangle. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way."
