Unlike other shows where fans have to endure a suspenseful between-season wait not knowing whether their favorite series will be renewed or canceled, “Better Call Saul” Season 5 was already announced even before its fourth season started airing. With a fifth season already in the bag, here are some of the speculations about the show that are currently making their rounds.

While officials details of the upcoming season are still elusive, fans have been speculating as to which characters will make their appearance. At the moment, there are three characters that many feel will surely be present next season — Bob Odenkirk’s “Jimmy” McGill, Jonathan Banks’ Mike Ehrmantraut and Giancarlo Esposito’s Gustavo “Gus” Fring.

The reason for this certainty is very simple. In Odenkirk’s case, he plays the main character, Jimmy, so he is more or less untouchable. Meanwhile, Mike and Gus are characters present when “Breaking Bad” started, so they need to be visible, as well to establish continuity between the main series and its prequel spinoff, “Better Call Saul.”

While Kim, played by actress Rhea Seehorn, is not mentioned in the main series, there is a good chance that fans will still be seeing her in the fifth season. After all, she plays the love interest of the show’s main character and people would love to see which direction their relationship could go next, especially since it did not end quite well in the last season.

Speaking of Kim, fans are already concerned if the character would die next season because she was never a character in the original “Breaking Bad” series. However, show creator Peter Gould even hinted that he does not prefer such outcome. “All I can say is, I'd be very sorry if something terrible happened to Kim…,” Peter Gould told Vulture in 2018.

However, actor Bob Odenkirk also hinted that Jim’s relationship with Kim might already be done and over with and reconciliation is no longer possible. “I don't know if they do or don't, but I don't think they stayed together because I just don't picture Kim hanging with Saul Goodman in any capacity,” the actor told Variety.

At the moment, there is no announcement yet for the release date of “Better Call Saul” Season 5. However, there are speculations that it may start sometime in August 2019, which is around the same time Season 4 started last year.
