Bimba Bosé has died on Monday, January 23 at the age of 41 after battling cancer for two years and suffering a metastasis in the bones, liver and brain. The singer and model passed surrounded by her daughters, Dora, 12 and June, 5, and closest family at the Ramón y Cajal hospital in Spain. She had announced back in May 2014 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in her left breast. After undergoing a mastectomy, she fought the disease nonstop.

“Bimba Bosé died this morning surrounded by her loved ones after a long, brave and heroic fight against cancer,” an official press release from her family read. “The family asks that their privacy be respected in these difficult moments and deeply appreciates the signs of affection received in all this time. The family wishes to say goodbye to Bimba one last time in the strictest privacy.”

Bimba was born in Rome, Italy, the daughter of Lucía González Bosé and her first husband, Alessandro Salvatore. She was singer Miguel Bosé's niece. She was a Spanish model, designer, actress and singer. Bimba's appearance as a model has always been very androgynous, although she worked from a very young age in fashion all over Europe, her greatest success and maturity arrived when she became the muse of the Spanish clothing designer David Delfín.

As part of her singing career, she was part of The Cabriolets group. She debuted with them in May 2007, singing in English and Spanish. She became very popular after her version of Rocío Jurado’s “Como yo te amo” mixed with the musical base of the original theme of “Twin Peaks.” Her first solo album, called “Demo,” was recorded in New York City, produced by Andrés Levín, with collaborations by musicians like Marc Ribot and John Medeski. In 2007 she recorded a duet with her uncle, Miguel Bosé, titled “Como un lobo” on the successful album Papito, and became a complete hit.

In 2014 Bosé underwent a mastectomy, but in June 2016 she told the magazine "Lecturas" that the cancer had “metastasized in her bones, liver and brain” and she was continuing treatment.

Her uncle, Miguel Bosé posted a heartfelt message on social media, lamenting the death of his niece. “Farewell Bimba, my accomplice, my partner, my love, my dear daughter. Guide me,” he wrote on Twitter.
