The low temperatures in the United States have all residents and tourists alarmed. The Southeast coast will be lashed from Thursday, January 4 with a winter storm that according to the National Weather Service promises to be as strong as a hurricane.

Incoherent scenarios such as snowfalls and the water in the pools of Florida houses completely frozen, a fountain in Pensacola, Florida, converted into an ice sculpture, as well as palm trees and other trees fully covered in ice in other states like Georgia, is a sign that this will be one of the harshest winters. For the same reason, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) posted messages on Twitter informing the population of the dangerous conditions that lie ahead.

"The cold is here to stay and the worst is yet to come," CNN meteorologist Taylor Ward said, according to CNN En Espanol. The freeze warnings remain in effect until further notice in typically temperate states, from Texas to northern Florida, detailed the National Weather Service.

Florida Department of Agriculture spokesman Aaron Keller said cold temperatures could endanger crops of citrus, peppers, and strawberries. "The more you go south, the less cold the crop supports," explained Keller. "If the predictions of cold weather go below Orlando, it could be a problem."

The authorities reported that in Charleston, South Carolina, it could snow on the beach during the next few days and that the southeast will remain between -9 and -12 degrees Celsius below average temperatures over the weekend.

The US weather service warned that temperatures will continue to drop during this week in New York and Boston. This Friday and Saturday, the highest temperatures will be -10 and -12 degrees Celsius, while the low temperatures on both days will reach -16 degrees Celsius. Boston is expected to freeze below -17 degrees Celsius, which means a danger, because due to these conditions, it is easy to succumb to hypothermia.

"Do not use hot water or radiant heat like a chimney, since the affected areas can easily burn," explained the Meteorological Service. "Seek medical attention for severe freezing." In the official Twitter account for NOAA's National Weather Service, they informed that "this rapidly intensifying East Coast storm will produce strong, damaging winds - possibly resulting in downed trees, power outages and coastal flooding. These strong winter systems are notorious for packing big winds and waves to go along with heavy snow!"
