Roberto Gómez Bolaños "Chespirito" has died at 85. The iconic comedian who was revered by millions of kids and adults from Mexico 'til Argentina, and crossed frontiers into Hispanic U.S. and Spain, passed away from a heart attack during the morning of this Friday November 28th, one day after Thanksgiving. And one thing we are thankful for is his tremendous legacy.

During the peak of his career, Chespirito created many characters whose phrases became part of every Latino's culture. His shows ran for decades and some of them are still on-air in certain regions of Latin America. Married to Florinda Meza, actress that was with him since his first show ('La Cigarra' and continued during 'El Chavo del 8,' 'Chespirito' and the movies 'El Chanfle', as well as the plays '11 y 12' and 'Títere'), Chespirito was a true cultural phenomenon, one bigger than Cantinflas himself and that can be equally compared to Charles Chaplin.

Here at Latin Times we remember the characters what we will always hold dear to our hearts.
