Chris Cornell fans must have been devastated when the physically healthy Audioslave and Soundgarden vocalist suddenly passed away on 2017. Fortunately, however, they have something to look forward to — a documentary about the legendary artist who was also hailed as one of the leaders of the grunge movement in the 1990s.

While only a few details are currently known about the documentary, the good thing is that it’s already confirmed to be in the works. To tease fans about the film, Chris Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, just posted a video showing her husband performing a song for guests, which included A-list actor Brad Pitt, at an event a few months before his death.

The rare video footage shows Chris Cornell and Sting performing the Soundgarden song “Black Hole Sun.” Actor Brad Pitt introduced the duo’s performance, which happened during a fundraising event hosted by the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF).

Chris Cornell and Sting’s 2017 performance is a memorable one since it would be the former’s last performance for the foundation’s events. The singer sadly died just four months after that fundraising campaign, which was a huge success as it raked in more than $700,000, money that was used to help fund EBMRF’s research.

“‘Black Hole Sun’ was released 25 years ago. #chriscornell and #sting perform acoustic in Malibu for our friends @ebmrf -January 2017,” Vicky Cornell captioned her Instagram post. She will also be involved in her husband’s documentary as its producer. Meanwhile, making the film will be handled by Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s production company Film 45.

Chris Cornell fans worldwide were shocked when news broke out that the singer passed away on May 18, 2017, just hours after performing a Soundgarden concert at Fox Theater in Michigan. His bodyguard found him unconscious in the bathroom inside his room at the MGM Grand in Detroit. His body was found lying on the bathroom’s floor with blood in his mouth and an exercise band around his neck.

Chris Cornell’s death was later ruled suicide by hanging. Vicky Cornell blamed Ativan as the culprit. “I noticed he was slurring his words; he was different,” she recalled her last conversation with her late husband. “When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him.”
