J.Balvin, Alicia Machado, Cristian De La Fuente, Roselyn Sanchez, Carmen Salinas and Mana are some of the Latino celebrities who have lashed out at Donald Trump following his racists comments about Mexicans. Jumping on the bandwagon is former "Nuestra Belleza Latina" 2013 winner Marisela De Montecristo, who was looking forward to participating in the 2015 edition of Miss El Salvador ---but not anymore.

The 22-year-old model, born in La Paz, El Salvador, but resides in the U.S., had the dream of representing her country in the popular Miss Universe beauty pageant; however, her goal was cut short after Trump said that Mexican immigrants are "bringing drugs," "bringing crime" and are "rapists," during his speech when he announced he was running for president.

In solidarity with Mexicans and Latinos everywhere, De Montecristo announced she will not participate in Miss El Salvador, to avoid the possibility of forming part of Miss Universe. Her statement on Facebook (originally in Spanish) is the following:

"I have to inform you that I've decided not to participate in Miss El Salvador for Miss Universe this year (not assuming that I was going to win). With pain in my heart I have to let go of this possibility. Ever since I saw Donald Trump express himself bad about Latinos, Mexicans, Centro Americans and South Americans, I felt disappointed. It hurt because I am who I am today because my mom decided to migrate to this country to give my brothers and I a better life. Many Latino families have that same dream. I find it unfair that this man wants to take away that possibility to millions of families. We are a big working community in the U.S. and deserve respect. I am completely against discrimination. I hope that those people who expected me to represent them in this important beauty competition understand me. Considering what he thinks of hispanics, do you think El Salvador has the possibility to win? Independently if the girl is well prepared. I believe the contest is more than picking the best representative. I am 100% Latina and very proud of being one."

Well said Marisela, and we support your decision!

Tengo que informarles que he decidido NO PARTICIPAR en MISS EL SALVADOR para #MISSUNIVERSO este año (no estoy asumiendo...
