Freddy Prinze Jr’s latest social media post says a lot about the actor’s open-mindedness. Upon learning that new actors got the roles for the upcoming animated “Scooby-Doo” movie, roles that he and his former cast members previously portrayed, Prinze did not take it personally and even said that he understands that it’s just a business decision.

“Nah man, it’s just show business,” Freddy Prinze Jr wrote on Twitter. “Which word is bigger? They simply want to bring the franchise to the next generation with actors they think will get the most eyeballs. It’s just business. Always has been, always will be. I don’t take that stuff personally.”

He was responding to a fan called TheNoire on Twitter, who was angry with the latest casting announcement. “F--- Hollywood and their corrupt s---. Ruining my movies with b---s---,” THeNoire expressed his opinion on Twitter. “No Lillard there is no scooby do. Same with @RealFPJr.”

Meanwhile, former co-star voice actor Matthew Lillard expressed his displeasure upon finding out only on social media that he was being replaced from the role he played for a long time. “Well, this sucks,” Lillard wrote on Twitter. “What a crappy way to find out ... thanks Hollywood. You never [cease] to amaze me.”

It is understandable that the announcement would affect Lillard more than it did Prinze Jr. After all, he played as Shaggy longer than Prinze Jr played as Fred. Lillard played as Shaggy in both “Scooby-Doo” (2002) and “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” (2004), and he has voiced the character in the show’s animated version since 2009, when original voice actor Casey Kasem retired. Prinze, on the other hand, only played Fred Jones in the two films.

The upcoming animated “Scooby-Doo” movie will be voiced by Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez, Tracy Morgan and Frank Welker. Forte, known for playing the main actor in the comedy sitcom “The Last Man On Earth,” will voice Shaggy, Rodriguez of “Jane The Virgin” will voice Velma and Welker will voice Scooby.

On the other hand, Morgan will voice Captain Caveman. The character is not part of the Scooby universe but part of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon universe, which is larger. The actual title of the animated film has not been announced yet.
