One of the most celebrated days of the year across the globe, St. Patrick's Day, serves as a time to honor Irish heritage while also remembering the life and service of St. Patrick. Spending time with loved ones, sharing traditional meals including corned beef and cabbage and decorating for the highly-anticipated holiday are great ways to enjoy the day and while the ultimate reason to celebrate the Irish tradition is to remember St. Patrick and familial roots, it's also a time to joke with friends.

Whether you're someone who enjoys partaking in various St. Patrick's Day parades or visiting friends at holiday parties, March 17 is one of the best days of the year for sharing food, drink and good times with those closest to you. One of the special things about being Irish is the closeness each person has with family and because of this important day, Irish folks across the globe are able to celebrate some of their own special traditions and activities they learned growing up.

The day may be one for spending with loved ones but sharing Irish jokes and traditional funny sayings is also an important part of an event that continues to grow on a yearly basis. Sure, there are plenty events where friends and family can get together for fun and games but because St. Patrick's Day -- especially in the United States -- has become such an enjoyable tradition, folks continue to use the day to joke around with one another throughout a day that is meant to be fun.
