“Game Of Thrones” has no qualms about killing off its most beloved characters. Since its debut, the show has displayed so much gruesomeness and devastation, propelling itself to be the most talked-about show on TV today. With the eighth and final season premiering soon, the odds are on every corner and more heads are sure to quite literally roll. Here are the characters who are most likely to die first next season.

1. Robin Arryn

The only son of former Hand of the King Jon Arryn, Robin is currently the commander of the Knights of the Vale but sat out the most recent season of the show. It is difficult imagining this weakling throwing himself into the fight against the White Walkers. So if he returns to the show at all, it will surely be to die.

2. Tormund

Nobody knows if Tormund actually survived the Night King’s attack at the end of Season 7. Even if he did, his position when the show returns will be very close to the action, so his life will remain on the line. If luckily he outsmarts the White Walkers, then he might end up becoming a great Northern lord.

3. Melisandre

The witch who brought Jon Snow back to life in the previous season might not long for this world. Her blind devotion to the Lord of Light has led her to wrestle with her guilt, and it is hard to imagine her in a situation where she’d try to avoid meeting her maker. She also told Jon and Davos once that she’s ready to die for many years.

4. Varys

Melisandre predicted that Lord Varys would die, and most likely, he would — it’s just a question of when. Varys’ fate is still a blur at this point in the series. If season 8 reveals that he has only been serving his own nefarious purpose, then he might be the first to be killed off — by Dany, who once threatened to burn him if she finds out he’s only betraying her. Melisandre also prophesied his death in the previous season.

5. Theon Greyjoy

Given all that Theon has done and gone through the series, there are only a few things left for him to do: save his sister Yara, kill Euron and die. There are two possible ways his story could end in Season 8. He could die saving his sister and atone for his sins in death, or he could keep living after Euron and Yara die, making him the de facto leader of the Ironborn.
