Google is ready to officially take the wraps off of its upcoming smartphone duo, the Pixel and the Pixel XL on October 4th at 9 a.m. PST/noon ET. The search engine giant uploaded a teaser video on Twitter, Monday--simple in design yet straight to the point with the hashtag #madebygoogle.

Press play on the short trailer video and a white search bar on a gray and white background appears on the screen. Right before your eyes, the familiar search bar morphs into a square and finally into a rectangular shape with rounded corners. The resulting outline is identical to that of Google’s much talked about soon-to-be-released Android packed smartphones. The upper range Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are tipped to be the sequels to the Nexus 5x and the Nexus 6P, respectively.

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL reveal date announcement follows a series of leaks and whispers surrounding the devices. Thanks to tipsters and photo leaks, we have a rough idea of what the pair of flagship phones will look like in real life as well as what specs each phone will sport. According to a report by Android Police, the recent surfacing of detailed, crisp images allow us a better look at the Pixel and Pixel XL’s features.

The Android OS based phones are expected to have an aluminum metal finish and built-in fingerprint sensors. Falling into the phablet category, the Pixel XL is rumored to have a 5.5-inch display to appeal to mobile users who prefer larger screens. The smaller Pixel phone is slated to arrive with a modest real estate of 5-inches to rival similar smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S7. With a purported starting price tag of $649, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are also rumored to be the first smartphones to debut a Snapdragon 821 processor.

Adding to the existing intel regarding the next generation phones from Google, an “accidental” cameo appearance of the Pixel in a televised Nest commercial in the Netherlands shows footage of the highly anticipated handset in action. Google is known for hiding upcoming phones in plain sight on purpose so perhaps the Nest ad placement was not coincidental. Back in 2013, an unannounced Nexus 5 was spotted front and center in a video of Google’s Android KitKat statue unveiling.

Cut to 2016 and Google wants you to save the October 4 date on your calendars to learn more about the Pixel and its larger sibling, the Pixel XL. The Mountain View, Calif. based brand encourages consumers to navigate to its official product site and sign up to receive updates about existing and future devices from Google.
