Home Depot's Racist Tweet Twitter

Home Depot has come under serious social media fire after posting a photo with serious racist undertones on its Twitter page. The hardware superstore posted a picture for College Game Day showing three figures playing Home Depot buckets as drums. Two of them were African-American and one figure was dressed in a monkey suit. The picture's caption read "One of these drummers is not like the other." The tweets clear racist undertones has drawn immense criticism across social media. Home Depot later posted a tweet apologizing for the photo and saying the person responsible had been fired: "We have zero tolerance for anything so stupid and offensive. Deeply sorry. We terminated agency and individual who posted it."

Home Depot has come under fire for being racist before. Back in September, The Daily Dot found an odd glitch (or unfortunate accident), in the Google search for the Home Depot: one of the subcategories that popped up in Google for "Home Depot" was the term Mexicans, accompanied with images of workers outside the home improvement store. "The photos here simply depict brown-skinned people who may or may not be Mexicans, day laborers, or anywhere near a Home Depot parking lot," writes Miles Klee of The Daily Dot. "Hardly what someone looking for a picture of the big-box hardware chain would need, really."

Home Depot is the largest home improvement retailer in the US, with the biggest overall revenue in the coutnry. The store operates out of large warehouse-style buildings averaging 105,000 ft.2
