"Huevos, corazón y verdes" became a worldwide Twitter trending topic as Mexico celebrated their victory against Cameroon after their debut at the FIFA World Cup 2014. The hashtag was provided by Miguel "El Piojo" Herrera during an interview with Televisa Deportes. He was asked to create one and it quickly took over the social network with buzz around the 1-0 win for "El Tri." Memes ranged from making fun of Cameroon's coach notably upset face, Javier "Chicharito" Hernández" unable to score a goal, to the bad calls made by the referees.

This last one was heavily panned as he disallowed two offside goals made by Mexican Giovani Dos Santos. The first one was debatable, but the second one was a clear goal that was not counted. Oribe Peralta scored the one and only goal of the match at minute 61 that was much celebrated and deserved. Mexico dominated the game and the counter should've reflected a bigger lead, but given the circumstances a 3 point win in this group stage is much appreciated. This succesful debut will give the team the confidence they need to continue fighting in the tournament. Scroll-through our photo gallery above and see all the hilarious memes from Twitter!
