Ignacio López Tarso underwent surgery on Sunday, May 22 at the age of 91. The Mexican actor had been found with polyps in the small intestine and a tumor in the large intestine. After the operation it was reported that his vital signs are in perfect state and doctors expected the legend to react in a favorable manner in the next couple of days. "We thank you for your interest, my father is very well and everything is fine," son, Juan Ignacio Aranda, told El Universal.

Ignacio López Tarso is a Mexican legendary actor that has starred in many films and television shows. He was born on January 15, 1925 in México City. López Tarso got the acting bug when he became a fan of author Xavier Villaurrutia, whom he discovered when recovering from a vertebrate injury. He then joined the theatre academy at the Palacio De Bellas Artes at the age of 24. His first professional stage debut was in 1951 with the play "Born Yesterday" by Garson Kanin.

It was in 1954 when Ignacio López Tarso made his debut in film with a minor role in "La Desconocida" under the direction of Chano Urueta. He went on to star in acclaimed films like "Macario" (1960), "El Hombre De Papel" (1963) and "Rosa Blanca" (1961). Although the latter project wasn't released until 1972 due to political censorship. The following year, Ignacio López Tarso received an Ariel Award for Best Actor in the film. López Tarso was one of the lucky ones to have worked during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He was able to share the big screen with María Félix, Marga López, Dolores Del Rio, Katy Jurado, Pedro Armendáriz, Emilio "El Indio" Fernández and many more.

His latest project on television was on "Amores Con Trampa" (2015). He also took part in telenovelas like "La Malquerida" (2014), "Corazón Indomable" (2014), "La Que No Podía Amar" (2011), "Esmeralda" (1997), "Imperio De Cristal" (1994), "El Derecho De Nacer" (1981) and many more.
