If recent reports are correct Apple's iPad Mini 4 will support the new split screen multitasking feature highlighted at WWDC 2015. According to MacRumors, files within OS X El Capitan indicate the upcoming mini will indeed support the new feature and suggest its internal specs will be on the level with the current generation iPad Air 2.

The evidence comes from Hamza Sood who spotted the OS X El Capitan resource file and 9to5Mac from the Safari 9 browser showing an iPad Mini with two side-by-side screens, which depicts the split view multitasking feature.

In responsive design mode, which gives users a way to test different layouts in Safari 9, also allows developers to simulate a split view layout on the iPad Mini 3. However, the iPad Mini 3 does not support split view, which offers further proof that the feature will make its way to the iPad Mini 4.

iOS 9 introduces multitasking to Apple's iPad lineup. Two features, picture-in-picture and slide-over view, are available on the iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 2 and Mini 3. But the true split view multitasking feature is only available on the iPad Air 2 because of its internal hardware. This adds another layer of truth as recent reports suggest the iPad Mini 3 will basically be a smaller version of the iPad Air 2.

We'll bring you more on the iPad Mini 4 as it becomes available.
