Apple is rumored to launch the fifth iteration of its successful iPad Mini series this October. It is worth noting however, that like the iPhone 7, the iPad Mini 5 may not come with the universal 3.5mm headphone jack.

On Saturday, Neurogadget revealed that the iPad Mini 5 will most likely launch around the same time the iPhone 7 and the MacBook Pro 2016 are unveiled to the public.

If renowned Twitter leaker Evan Blass were right, the iPhone 7 and its other variants, as well as Apple’s other products, will be showcased to the public in early September.

Nonetheless, though the launch date and release date of the device are still unknown, most Apple fans are already excited to know if the iPad Mini 5 is worth the upgrade.

So far, it is rumored that Apple is keeping the 7.9-inch display for this iteration, since it has become the hallmark of the iPad Mini series.

However, since Apple likes to challenge itself in manufacturing ultra-thin devices, fans could be awaiting the arrival of a Mini tablet that is only 5mm thick, according to Mobile & Apps.

A 5mm width would be way thinner than the iPad Mini 4’s 6.1mm thickness. While this could be perceived as a great idea by many consumers, the reduced width would only indicate the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack from the device.

Recent reports are claiming that Apple is going to get rid of the universal headphone jack in favor of lightning peripherals for its new devices.

Meanwhile, loyal Apple fans would be delighted to know that the iPad Mini 5 could sport Apple’s A9 processor on the inside. This would be a great addition to the device, since this would mean the tablet would have better gaming graphics.

In addition, the new Mini is expected to come with an 8-megapixel back camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, Mirror reported.

Since the device is going to be thinner, it is very likely that the battery pack will not be big enough to provide long hours of battery life.
