Dominican-Peruvian Karen Rodriguez reached national attention during season 10 of "American Idol", where she blew audiences away with powerful renditions of "Hero" by Mariah Carey, "If You Had My Love" by Jennifer Lopez, "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars, and "No Me Queda Más" by Selena.

Karen became the first bilingual finalist on the show. Post "Idol", Karen has done background vocals for Marc Anthony's #1 smash "Vivir Mi Vida”. Karen also wrote the Spanish translation of "Somebody" by Natalie La Rose featuring Jencarlos Canela and Kevin Roldan, which was performed at the 2015 Latin American Music Awards.

In 2015, Karen began releasing Spanglish covers of popular songs on her YouTube channel. Her Spanish translations of Drake's "Hotline Bling" and Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" reached close to 3 million views each; her Spanglish cover of Adele's "Hello" went viral, surpassing over 10 million views on YouTube, and charted #5 on US iTunes Latino chart and #7 Billboard Latin Digital charts.

Karen visited Latin Times in New York, and answered questions, interacted with fans and sang live with musician Cristian Camilo Castro. Watch them below!

The Roc Nation Latin singer is also bilingual, and can do both English and Spanish songs as part of her acoustic set. Her new single "April Fool's Day" came out in both versions English and Spanish, and her video is available too!

The visual is inspired by the song’s theme and shot at Coney Island, a special place for Karen who remembers going there since she was a child. On a freezing cold day, the empty carnival rides and lights of Coney Island set the stage for the breath taking video for “April Fools”, where the “trickster” plays with Karen’s heart, making her the fool. The video was directed by Christian Lamb and produced by Scheme Engine.

About the video, Karen explains: “This was my first professional video ever so it was an amazing experience. Shooting at Coney Island was special for me because I’ve been going there since I was a child, so I’m very happy that I was able to return and make my vision come to life.”
