Queen Elizabeth II is the British royal family’s richest member with a personal worth valued more than $500 million. And since royal gifts are expected to be lavish beyond the ordinary, one would also expect Her Majesty’s gifts to those closest to her — her immediate family members — to be the grandest of them all. Here are the Queen’s most expensive gifts to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

A House On The Sandringham Estate For Prince William And Kate Middleton

When Prince William married Kate in 2011, the Queen gave the young royal couple their very own home. The property is formally known as the Anmer Hall, a 10-bedroom Georgian manor built in 1802. Before the property was turned over to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, it underwent an extensive renovation with a total cost of over $2 million. The renovation expense was covered by the royal family funds, which just shows how generous the Queen Mother is to her family.

Priceless Artwork For Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth has a very special housewarming present for Prince Harry and Meghan. Her Majesty has arranged for the young couple to choose some pieces of artwork from her very own private collection. While it is very hard to put a value to art, the Queen’s gift to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should be valuable as well and, perhaps, even on par in value to the property that Prince William and Kate received in 2011.

The reason for the artwork’s potential high valuation is very simple — the Queen’s collection contains the rarest pieces in the art world and includes works by Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Canaletto, Leonardo Da Vinci and Andy Warhol. Called the Royal Art Collection, it is reported to be the largest privately owned art collection in the world and contains over a million artworks, a few of which are Andy Warhol prints featuring the Queen herself.

Prince Harry and Meghan currently reside in Nottingham Cottage, which is located within the Kensington Palace grounds. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to relocate to a more idyllic countryside location soon — probably before Meghan gives birth to their first child. Their new home is called Frogmore Cottage, which is currently undergoing a £3 million renovation.
