Last night, 103.5 KTU, The Beat of New York, kicked off the summer at Nikon in Jones Beach Theater with its annual star-studded concert event KTUphoria 2016 presented by Aruba. Fans celebrated the summer with performances from today’s hottest acts including Pitbull, Backstreet Boys, Enrique Iglesias, The Chainsmokers, Nile Rodgers, Daya, Mike Posner and Bebe Rexha.

Nikon at Jones Beach Theater was filled with eager fans ready to party and hear all of the night’s top performers including Nile Rodgers who kicked off the show and got the crowd dancing.  Bebe Rexha got all of the fans moving to hits including “Take Me Home,” followed by fan favorite cover “Monster” that she wrote for Eminem and Rihanna. Mike Posner performed summer jam “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” followed by Enrique Iglesias who got the crowd dancing to hits like “Baby I Like It” and “Bailando.” Backstreet Boys were back all right with “The Call”, “I Want It That Way” and “Everybody.” Chainsmokers brought newcomer Daya on stage to perform their hit duo “Don’t Let Me Down.” Pitbull wowed the crowd with his impressive dance moves, closing out the show with “Fireball”, “Feel This Moment” and “Timber.”

The day started with the action-packed “Pregame,” the official pre-party celebration for KTUphoria 2016 presented by Aruba. The event featured a party atmosphere with music by KTU resident DJ’s and special artist appearances from the Backstreet Boys.

The show’s lineup was announced last March, when Thea Mitchem, executive vice president of programming, iHeartMedia New York expressed her excitement about the event. “With the hottest stars in music on one stage, KTUphoria 2016 is the best way to kick off the summer right,” she said. “We can’t wait for our listeners to experience their favorite artists at Jones Beach Theater.”

“We are excited to celebrate summer with our listeners as the star-studded lineup brings the heat to Jones Beach Theater!” Rob Miller, Program Director of WKTU, also said at the time.
