Back in December 2015, HBO announced that the drama "The Leftovers" would return for a third and final season. But now it appears as though fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the final season as the premiere has been pushed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reason for the push is due to a film location change. The website confirmed that the series has finished its filming portion in Texas in the fictional town of Jarden, and will be moving to Australia. Moving to Australia will push the premiere from 2016 to 2017.

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that "Birdman" actress Lindsay Duncan has joined the series. Unfortunately, her role and episodes have not been announced. It has already been disclosed that most of the cast from Season 2 will return for the final episodes.

"The Leftovers" stars Justin Theroux as Kevin Garvey Jr., Amy Brenneman as Laurie Garvey, Christopher Eccleston as Matt Jamison, Liv Tyler as Megan "Meg" Abbott, Chris Zylka as Tommy Garvey, Margaret Qualley as Jill Garvey, Carrie Coon as Nora Durst, Janel Moloney as Mary Jamison, Regina King as Erika Murphy, Kevin Carroll as John Murphy, Jovan Adepo as Michael Murphy, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Evangeline "Evie" Murphy, and Scott Glenn as Kevin Garvey Sr., who has been made a series regular for the final season.

"The Leftovers" takes place three years after a global event called the "Sudden Departure," the inexplicable, simultaneous disappearance of 140 million people, two percent of the world's population, on Oct. 14, 2011. Following that event, mainstream religions declined, and a number ofcults emerged, most notably the Guilty Remnant.

The story focuses primarily on the Garvey family and their acquaintances in the fictional town of Mapleton, N.Y. Kevin Garvey is the Chief of Police. His wife Laurie has joined the Guilty Remnant. Their son Tommy has left home for college, and their daughter Jill is acting out. The second season moves the main characters to the fictional town of Jarden, Texas.
