Meghan Markle and Priyanka Chopra’s status as best friends is said to be “on the rocks.” But before this, they have shared some really strong bond as friends. Here’s a look-back on their best BFF moments.

In September 2017, the newlywed “Quantico” actress shared to People Magazine how she met the former “Suits” star, now Duchess of Sussex, at the annual ELLE Women in Television dinner back in January 2016. “We bonded as actors,” Chopra said. “We just became friends, like two girls would.”

Meanwhile, talking to Press Trust of India, Markle remembered how quickly they bonded over cocktails and Chopra's fangirling over “Suits.” “Priyanka is unbelievable,” Markle gushed. “She has become a really good friend. ELLE Magazine in the U.S. hosted a dinner celebrating Women in TV, and we met that night — turns out that she really likes ‘Suits,’” the Duchess added.

Since then, the two have nothing but sweet words to say about each other when asked about their friendship. December of the same year, Markle and Chopra went on a friends’ night out in Malibu with the two documenting the fun on Instagram.

In a May 2017 interview, Chopra recalled that they “got on really well.” This has a lot to do with the fact that the two friends have a lot in common. They love doing humanitarian work and share the same passion for supporting and uplifting fellow women.

“You know when you meet someone and you just ‘click’ ... It was just an easy, natural progression,” Markle shared. “We’ve managed to keep in touch via email and text, and try to see each other whenever we’re both in the same town,” she went on to say.

Chopra has always been supportive of Markle and has stood up for her a few times. When some people started to see Markle as no more than “Prince Harry’s girlfriend,” the Indian star was quick to remind them how amazing she is on her own.

“I mean, she's on the cover of Vanity Fair,” she said. “It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I'm just saying. I mean, she's an actor, she's an activist, she's a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more,” she argued.

Even then, Chopra was one of the biggest supporters of Markle and Prince Harry's relationship. As fans know, she made sure to be there for her friend on her wedding last May.

However, when it was her turn to tie the knot with Nick Jonas last year, Markle was not in attendance. Rumors suggested that Chopra wasn't too happy about that, and in turn she reportedly ditched her BFF's baby shower.

Ultimately, their friendship was stronger than that. Even before they began new chapters of their lives, the two knew the kind of bond they have — and it isn't one burdened by distance. They recognized that they can have very hectic schedules and that they move around a lot.
