Man Stabs Younger Brother To Death For Fighting With Mother, Arrested

A 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death for engaging in an altercation with their mother.

The incident took place at their home in the Saramedu area in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu on Friday, May 14.

According to police, the victim, identified as 23-year-old Thoufiq, got into an argument with his mother after she refused to give him money. The victim’s older brother, Zaheer Hussain, who was home when the dispute happened, intervened to stop the fight.

The altercation escalated during which the suspect allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

"Zaheer intervened and advised Thoufiq not to fight with the mother for money and asked him to find a job. At one point, Zaheer lost his temper and grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Thoufiq in the abdomen and chest," a report by The Times of India quoted the investigating officer.

The suspect fled the scene leaving the victim in a pool of blood. Family members rushed the victim to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital on Saturday.

The suspect was later located and arrested. He is facing charges of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

In a similar incident, a 35-year-old woman died after her drug addict husband threw her off the balcony of their third-floor apartment building.

The incident took place in the Kalia Gardhi area of Meerut, in the wee hours of Thursday, May 13.

According to the investigating officer, the suspect, who was a drug addict, frequently engaged in altercations with his wife.

On Thursday, during one such dispute, the suspect threw his wife off the third-floor balcony. The woman fell headfirst onto the ground.

Officers responded to the home and found the victim in a pool of blood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police have initiated a manhunt for the suspect who fled the scene after the incident. Police said the accused had spent few months in jail for a domestic violence case involving the same victim a few years ago.
