The moment has arrived! The Met Gala, also known as “the Oscars of fashion,” is taking place as we sepak, and stars are strutting down the red carpet for one of the most glamorous nights of the year!

Every year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit has a theme for the exhibit it’s opening and 2016 will be “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

Apropo of the theme, the most dominant trend was metallic dresses; specifically silver. Heavily embroidered dresses with sequins, chains and shiny finishes reined the red carpet. Another trend that stood out where cutouts, and following that we still saw some leather finishes, including chunky lace boots.

Stars such as Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Emma Watson, Demi Lovato, Lupita Nyong’o, Zoe Saldana, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and more who are already regulars of the event, were present, each showing off their unique sense of style and fearless statements as seen in the photos above.

Of course, Anna Wintour continued as chairwoman of the gala, and her co-hosts include Jonathan Ive, chief design officer of Apple, actor Idris Elba and singer Taylor Swift. The honorary chairs are Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere and Muccia Prada.

As far as the guest list goes, even though tickets run for up to $30,000 a piece, Ana Wintour has to approve every single attendant along with Vogue. That same policy applies even if a brand buys a whole table. Lucky for the attendants tonight, they all made the cut and managed to look absolutely stunning for the event.

However, we were extremely surprised we didn’t get to see Rihanna’s fierceness at the event, and we also missed Jennifer Lopez, who always manages to wow on the red carpet just like the two did last year.

Which was your favorite look of the night?
