Microsoft unveils a plethora of new hardware and software at its October 2015 event. Reuters

Today at Microsoft's October 2015 presentation the company has unveiled a plethora of new hardware and software including two new smartphones, a new tablet, their first ever laptop and much more.

First up, Microsft announced two new Lumia smartphones, the 950 and 950 XL. The 950 comes equipped with an Octa-core processor, while the 950XL features a Hexa-core processor. Each handset comes with liquid cooling tech and two internal antennas.

The Lumia 950 range also features:

  • 5.2" and 5.7" display, respectively
  • OLED Screens
  • 564 and 518 PPI

While the camera specs include:

  • 20MP sensor
  • Triple LED RGB Natural Flash
  • 5th Gen optical image stabilization
  • Dedicated camera button
  • 4k video

As for memory the 950 series comes with 32GB of internal storage, and features micro SD support. Another selling point is the Lumia's new glance-screen technology which Microsoft says requires zero percent battery life.

Up next is the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which the company says runs 50 percent faster than Apple's MacBook Air. The device is 8.4 mm thick, has a 12.3" screen with 267ppi resolution and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Microsoft also announced that the device features a new backlit keyboard and a glass trackpad.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4's stylus has 1024 levels of sensitivity and stores magnetically to the tablet. The pen will come in five different colors with interchangeable pen tips.

Furthermore, the company revealed a Surface Pro docking station that is compatible with the previous Surface tablet model and comes with with 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 DisplayPorts and an Ethernet port.

But that is not all, the company also revealed its first ever laptop called the Surface Book. The device has a 13.5-inch detachable screen, featuring 267 dpi and 6 million pixels. Its trackpad is made of glass and is tuned for speed and control.

The Surface Book will include an Intel processor and an Nvidia GeForce GPU and has high-speed GDDR5 memory, and 12 hours of battery life.

Users will be able to pre-order the device starting Oct. 7 and will release Oct. 26. The device will cost you $1,499.

As far as software goes Microsoft gave a demonstration of Continuum, which is an integrated phone-to-screen productivity tool. Users will be able to stream HD audio and 1080p graphics from your phone direct to your monitor, access three USB ports, switch tasks, and unlock your phone a beta mode of Windows Hello, the Kinect's facial recognition system.
