Demi Lovato and Mike Johnson’s romance captivated fans ever since the two openly flirted on social media. But, all good things started must come to an end and, apparently, their short-lived romance has finally run its course.

“Demi and Mike's fling has fizzled out and they aren't seeing each other or texting like they were before,” a source told E! News. “Nothing happened, it just ran its course.”

While Lovato definitely liked Johnson, the feeling was not strong enough to make things serious between the two. “Demi was definitely interested in Mike at one point, but it was short-lived and she wasn't ever planning on dating him seriously,” the source added.

Lovato and Johnson’s romance started in July when the music artist started flirting with “The Bachelorette” star on social media, according to HollywoodLife. “Mike I accept your rose,” she posted a message on Instagram Story, which started a storm on social media as fans were eager to see the two attractive single pair up.

Johnson kicked the excitement up a notch when he revealed he’s willing to date Lovato as well. “Hell yeah, I would go on a date with Demi Lovato. She is freaking sexy as can be. I don’t know her personality, so I’d have to get to know her, but I would entertain a conversation,” he told HollywoodLife.

All the flirting, eventually, resulted in the two going on a date by September. Those who spotted the pair even reported that the two seemed to hit it off and enjoyed each other’s company.

“They looked happy,” a source said. “They were there about an hour and a half or two hours and sat by themselves. … Demi couldn’t stop laughing, and they came in through a back entrance.”

Their chemistry was unmistakable that it was not surprising to see them going on a few more dates. Despite not making dating a priority, a source close to Lovato said that the singer is enjoying her time with Johnson as well.

“She’s still getting to know him, but so far she likes him and gets a good vibe from him,” the source said. “Dating isn’t her focus right now, but she’s enjoying herself.”

But, just as fans expect things to get serious between the two, things became awkward around two weeks ago. That was when Johnson asked Keke on a date while guesting in the “Strahan, Sara & Keke.”

“I made a mistake,” Johnson responded when asked about Lovato. “I don't like dating in public. But if I were to ask you if we could go on a date in the public...”

While it is yet unclear when really happened between them, it seems that Johnson is not yet giving up on the possibility of starting over again with Lovato. “Mike hopes they can have a second chance again,” a source told E! News. “But for now, he's fine with being friendly.”
