Natalia Lafourcade Latin Grammys: Mexican Singer Talks Six Nominations And Essence Of Her Music [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

Natalia Lafourcade was about to take a dip in the pool at a Los Angeles hotel when she received the news that she was nominated for the 2015 Latin Grammys. It was her friends and family who blew her cellphone, giving her the news that she was nominated back-to-back. In all, the half Mexican, half Chilean, leads the pack with a total of six nods: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Alternative Song and Best Engineered Album.

For Lafourcade ---an already Latin Grammy winner, this is a great accomplishment for her and her entire team. "It's very special," she told Latin Times about her nominated album "Hasta La Raiz." "It feels nice because of all the time and work we invested in the production," she added of her sixth studio album that was released earlier this year in March.

The 31-year-old indie songstress embarked her career nearly 15 years ago with her band La Forquetina. At the time, she tells Latin Times, she knew she wanted to sing but had no idea of how to step into the industry. After releasing many hit songs and becoming a household name in the biz, Lafourcade moves to Canada, where she took time to reflect on her personal life and career moves. "Hasta La Raiz," for her, is a sign of recommence.
