March 23 is National Puppy Day! Today you don't have to feel guilty about staring at puppy photos and melting. According to the National Puppy Day website, "Puppy Day founder and Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige, encourages you to adopt a new furry family member on this day and if you can't, please donate at least $5 to your local shelter." National Puppy day is not just about fawning over your furry friend - it's also about remembering the ones that don't have the love!

This day encourages you to consider adopting over buying a pup: "Millions of unwanted puppies sit alone in the shelter every day. Many never make it out to enjoy a life of love and security. Please don't buy a puppy from a pet store, which only supports puppy mills that neglect and torture dogs. If we are ever going to fix the problem of pet overpopulation, it starts with YOU! Be part of the solution ... not part of the problem. ADOPT... DON'T SHOP!"

Today is a special day to celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives. But more importantly, it's a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills, as well as further our mission for a nation of puppy-free pet stores.
