Univision has announced the premiere date of "Por Siempre Joan Sebastian," the bio series that will dramatize the life of the late singer. Joan Sebastian was known as "El Poeta Del Pueblo" and "El Rey Del Jaripeo" for his sensible lyrics and captivating horse riding skills. Sebastian will be played by his sons José Manuel Figueroa and Julián Figueroa at different stages of his life. Carla Estrada told LatinTimes that the series is not 100% factual, but it is heavily inspired on moments of his life. "Por Siempre Joan Sebastian" stars on Monday, June 27 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. SYNOPSIS: This mini-series follows the life and career of legendary Mexican singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian honoring his accomplishments just a year after his untimely death. His love of life will be shared along with his passion for his music and his fans. This story will pay tribute to the "people's poet," as he is affectionately known, giving audience a unique look at the life of the singer as a child, his many struggles growing up, and his meteoric rise to fame. Jose Manuel and Julian Figueroa, Joan Sebastian's sons, will play Joan at different stages of his life. Livia Brito will play the role of Maribel Guardia, one of Joan's true loves.

A touching story of a poet who never surrendered in the face of adversity, the mini-series takes us back to the 1950s to the small Mexican town of Juliantla, where Joan Sebastian was born and, ultimately, died last year. The story features Sebastian as a young man migrating to Chicago to pursue his dream, the women who inspired him, and how he launched a successful recording career that would make him one of the top-selling GRAMMY Award-winning artists whose songs will live forever.
