Residente Premieres 'Guerra': Music Video, Project Promotes Peace, Raise Awareness Among Victims Of War Photo: Youtube

As a sad coincidence, and a day after the double terrorist attack in Barcelona and Cambrils, which killed 14 people, and left 100 injured, René Pérez Joglar, better known as Residente, announced the World premiere of his new video "Guerra," a song included in his first solo album on Friday 18 August, 2017.

The premiere of the video is accompanied by the launch of a new project whose purpose is to promote peace and raise awareness among victims of conflicts around the world. The new video clip premiered on Residente's official YouTube channel and marks the release of the extended "Guerra" project, which includes digital content, TV and experiences.

The music video "Guerra" was directed by Pérez Joglar himself, becoming the third musical video directed by Residente after "Somos Anormales" and "Desencuentro." Shot in Spain and at the Zahlee Refugee Camp; an informal camp on the border between Syria and Lebanon where over 250 refugees from Syria live. The video stars Jan Cornet, Una Ugalde and Paco Leon along with real war victims and refugees from the Syria conflict.

"With this video of the song 'Guerra' I tell the cycle of it," said Residente speaking of the music video and the Residente project. "The arrival of the invader, the people who suffer the attacks in their own flesh, the people who resist fighting to defend themselves against these attacks, the refugees fleeing from the war and we comfortable that we are totally alienated to the harsh reality of the war. Today, within a circuit that promotes only songs to dance which I also have, it is vital for me as an artist to also take the space to promote such important and necessary subjects."

The complete project includes new content and experiences, which will be announced soon and will be available on all platforms during the months of August and September 2017. To contribute and get involved with the project, use the hashtag #ResidentesDeLaGuerra and #ResidentsofWar.
