Last April, Rosario Dawson was arrested in Washington D.C. after taking part in a Democracy Spring protest for obstructing or incommoding after crossing police lines. Now, the very politically involved actress says she is ready to do it all over again!

Dawson called the arrest “very purposeful,” which is why she is all set for the next one. “I had been watching the arrests online, but I wasn’t seeing it anywhere in the media and it was like, That’s crazy. But [getting arrested] did really make an impact,” she told NY Mag. “It started to make noise, it started to make people pay attention.”

As expected, Dawson will attend the upcoming Democratic National Convention with a plan. “Oh, yeah. Yeah,” she exclaimed. “I am definitely going to the DNC, and I’ll definitely be protesting outside of the DNC.”

However, the actress is not about causing damage or starting riots at any point. Dawson explained she is all about learning and showing people how to do “civil disobedience properly.” She said she took people through the “whole process” of protesting looking to prepare them for the emotional aspects, more than the physical ones. “It is an emotional thing, and you are going to be surrounded by potentially a million people. It is really intense,” she insisted.

After her previous arrest, Dawson remained in good spirits and even said the police had been “really great,” except they were not necessarily like that to others who are not celebs. “The police were really great with us and really lovely, I have to say that is not the case for so many people.”

“This is a tremendous issue and I'm really grateful that I could be here and be a part of it,” Dawson told reporters. “I wanted for me, personally, to be in solidarity with the people who put themselves on the line.”
