"Scandal" Season 5 episode 7, "Even the Devil Deserves a Second Chance." ABC

Gladiators get your popcorn and wine ready! After a brief hiatus from the ABC's fall schedule, the hit show "Scandal" is back and bringing viewers some shocking and entertaining twists this season.

Scandal is hitting our small screens on Thursday January, 19 on ABC. While we all have been waiting in agony, the show's trailer for the season is an epic one revealing the peaks and valleys of the upcoming election.

The trailer shows this season being jam-packed full of heart wrenching events. With the election underway, fans are going to learn the results and she who comes out on top. It was revealed in the Season 5 finale that Olivia (Kerry Washington) managed to snag Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) as Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) running mate after her father gave her absolutely no choice. But the real surprise was Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) who joined forces with Francisco Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) on his ticket for the presidency.

In the trailer, a scene shows Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) warning Olivia about the election.

"What if you're wrong?" At that, the campaign manager fires back, "I won't be wrong." Viewers can still see the chemistry between the pair who has been on and off since the show started.

Another clip shows Mellie at her wits end with the upcoming election.

"I am done running for president!" Liv's response? "Well, I'm not!" We all know that whatever Liv wants, come hell or high water she will get it.

You are not dreaming, Scandal is back and judging by the trailer creator Shonda Rhimes continues to live up to her name providing twists and turns that we would have never dreamed of.
